APSRC Awards CSP Subgrant to Bentonville School for Advanced Studies

LITTLE ROCK (September 26, 2023) – The Arkansas Public School Resource Center (APSRC) is excited to announce its award of a Charter Schools Program (CSP) Subgrant to the Bentonville School for Advanced Studies.

APSRC Charter Schools Program Subgrants are competitive grants for the purpose of funding startup and expansion activities, including planning and implementation, and costs. Funded through the APSRC Development Grant Program, these aim to carry out the following activities in the state of Arkansas:

  1. Increase the number of high-quality charter schools in the state with an emphasis on those serving educationally disadvantaged students;

  2. Improve student outcomes in Arkansas charter schools, especially for educationally disadvantaged students; and

  3. Disseminate best practices among charter schools.

Charter School grants awarded by APSRC are federally funded under the US Department of Education Charter Schools Program, Expanding Opportunities Through Quality Charter Schools Program Grants to State Entities (CFDA number 84.282A).

Bentonville School for Advanced Studies open-enrollment charter was approved by the State Board of Education. As a CSP Subgrantee, each school will have the opportunity to receive up to $1.25 million if at least 60 percent of the students they serve qualify for free or reduced lunch once their student populations are established. Those determinations are made based on their Division of Elementary and Secondary Education School Cycle 2 Reports during their first year of operation as a public charter school in Arkansas.

DeAnna Rowe, Executive Director for Arkansas Schools for Advanced Studies, Inc. said, "Arkansas Schools for Advanced Studies is excited to be expanding into the Bentonville area. This grant will help us launch the school – especially in promoting the school to families across north west Arkansas and recruiting highly talented teachers."

The APSRC congratulates the Bentonville school for Advanced Studies and looks forward to working with them as they use the CSP Open-Enrollment Subgrant for their school.
