ATRS Board Accepting Applications: Vacant Member Position #7

Classified (Non-Licensed) Member Position

Deadline July 19, 2013

Due to a pending vacancy on the ATRS Board in Member Non-Licensed Position #7, the ATRS Board voted on June 3, 2013 to appoint a successor Trustee to serve until June 30, 2015. The ATRS Board of Trustees has authority to appoint a successor Trustee by majority vote of the Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees also voted to attempt to fill this position by an appointment as early as its July 26, 2013, Board of Trustees meeting. Any classified (non-licensed) member in the state may serve in this position.

The ATRS Board has instructed the ATRS staff to notify ATRS members, educationally related interest groups that traditionally represent ATRS members, ATRS employers, and others interested in ATRS of this pending vacancy. This executive director update is part of that notification process. This attachment is notice of the vacancy, notice of the intent of the ATRS Board to fill the position by appointment, notice of the application process, and notice of the deadline for applications.

A short Trustee Application form to be completed by any qualified ATRS member who desires to be considered for the vacant position is also attached. Click here for Trustee Application. The application must be completed and be delivered (in actual possession of ATRS) to the ATRS Executive Director by close of business on Friday, July 19, 2013 (4:30 p.m.).   • Gather and fax all new hire paperwork and insurance enrollment forms to corporate staff for all new employees.
  • Ensure curriculum order is compiled and faxed to corporate staff.
  • Complete Purchase Order (PO) for corporate staff approval so that school supplies may be ordered.
  • Maintain Student Attendance Records and fax these to the APSCN Coordinator.
  • Ensure appropriate enrollment forms are completed and faxed to the APSCN Coordinator in a timely manner.
  • Track students who leave or withdraw from the school and ensure appropriate documentation of leave codes.

The Arkansas Correctional School is accepting applications for the position of Administrator of Information Technology.

The Administrator of Information Technology shall be directly responsible to the Superintendent of the Arkansas Correctional School.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

 Works with GED examiners to trouble shoot computer based testing activities.

  1. Becomes a certified computer based testing examiner.
  2. Maintains computer lab compatibility with computer based testing.
  3. Works with staff to find solutions to technology issues.
  4. Provides staff development on technology.
  5. Modifies the student relational database as needed.
  6. Creates statistical reports from the existing database and assists in research projects as needed.
  7. Modifies and updates the district website per state department of education requirements.
  8. Supervises other information technology related staff.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

The individual holding this position will possess the experience and skill necessary to work with the district’s existing technology and adapt to future challenges in this rapidly evolving field. The successful candidate will:

 Have a minimum of one year of experience in computer information systems.

  • Demonstrate the ability to work in relational database systems, spreadsheets, and with statistical software.
  • Demonstrate the ability to analyze issues and select proper corrective action in both computer software and hardware.
  • Demonstrate the ability to provide network and computing support in an educational environment.
