The Academics Plus Charter School in Maumelle is starting the 2010-11 fiscal year this month with a new slate of top administrators.

Rob McGill, most recently the acting superintendent of the Pulaski County Special School District, is now the superintendent of the charter school that is expected to serve about 570 students in kindergarten through 12th grade this year.

Rachel Wheeler is the new elementary principal at Academics Plus. She previously worked in the Mayflower School District.

Sharon Ward is the new principal for the secondary grades, seven through 12. She previously worked in the Guy-Perkins School District as an assistant high school principal, McGill said.

The new administrators replace former Superintendent Jake Honea and former Principal Buster Lackey.
